What's New with the IMDiversity site

The Ron Brown Scholar Program

The Ron Brown Scholar Program provides academic scholarships, service opportunities and leadership experiences for young African Americans of outstanding promise. Our achievements over the last 12 years include:

-        100 percent graduation rate;

-        54 percent of Scholars have graduated from Ivy League universities;

-        2 Scholars were elected to be the First Marshals of their Harvard University graduating classes, considered the highest honor bestowed upon an undergraduate;

-        1 Scholar has been selected as a Truman Scholar and 2 Ron Brown Scholars have been selected as finalists for the Rhodes Scholarship; and

-        A 10-year anniversary book, entitled I Have Risen, which features a collection of essays written by a group of African American youth and an accompanying lesson plan.

The brand new Web site contains information on all 240+ Scholars, young people who will use their success to help in meaningful ways both as members of their own communities and society as a whole.

Each year, no more than 20 African-American high school seniors are chosen from more than 5,000 applications to become a Ron Brown Scholar and receive $40,000 ($10,000 per year for 4 years) that may be used at the college of their choice.
