Competition Rules
Video postings may not exceed 90 seconds in length. Contestants are limited to a single video submission per category.
Videos must be of the actual contestant, but a contestant may be accompanied by musicians or other background artists. All parties in a video must be at least 18 years of age.
Contestants who use the images or work product of other artists, in any way, must secure the consent of the artists to such use.
Videos that we believe to be offensive, profane or inappropriate will be declared ineligible and removed from the site immediately.
Videos can be posted either directly or through a link to a contestant’s YouTube account.
Contestants must fill in a short entry form indicating their college affiliation, address and contact information.
By posting a video in the contest, a contestant agrees to these rules and the Terms and Conditions of the contest.
Terms and Conditions
Deadline for Entry. Contest entries must be posted before midnight on April 18, 2014.
Ineligible Entries. Collegians who are parties to agreements involving the performing arts with any for-profit companies (such as recording contracts, for example) are not eligible to compete in this competition. Any entry that we believe to violate these Terms and Conditions or the Rules of the contest will be automatically disqualified and removed from the competition.
Consent to Publication. By entering into the contest, a contestant consents to The Black Collegian’s publication of the contestant’s video entry during the term of the contest and, in the case of winning videos, for one year following the termination of the contest, with the understanding that The Black Collegian does not have the right to commercially exploit any video submitted in the contest.
Representations and Warranties. By submitting an entry, each contestant represents and warrants that:
(a) the entry does not infringe any third party rights;
(b) any materials which feature in the entry (including without limitation any animals) are the property of the contestant;
(c) the entry does not feature any individual except for the actual contestant and other individuals who have consented to being featured in the entry and are over the age of 18; and
(d) the entry does not contain any discriminatory, obscene or defamatory material, does not include (whether by image, gesture, statement or other material of any kind) any violence, cruelty to animals, weapons, religious iconography or anything which may reasonably be considered to be offensive, anti-social, inflammatory or otherwise objectionable, and is not otherwise illegal.
