Expands My Brother’s Keeper with national college tour throughout 2015

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23, 2015  — The U.S. Small Business Administration kicks off the Millennial Entrepreneurs Road Show this week in Atlanta, Georgia. The road show, which is a national tour of Minority Serving Institutions (MSI), will engage students and raise awareness about the possibilities of entrepreneurship, expose them to the available programs and resources and educate them on how to move from business idea to start-up.

“Millennials are born to be entrepreneurs. They grew up with the Internet. They’re the largest generation in our country, the most diverse and the most educated. More than half of millennials say they are interested in starting their own business,” said SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet. “SBA’s Millennial Entrepreneurs Road Show is going to visit college campuses across America to show them how. Our expert counselors can help students on the path to entrepreneurship so they can harness their talents to support themselves and our economy.”

SBA’s Millennial Road Show is a part of SBA’s “My Brother’s Keeper Initiative”, a Presidential priority to ensure that all young people have opportunities to improve their life outcomes and overcome barriers to success. SBA’s initiative will focus on outreach and education to help America’s millennials improve their entrepreneurial skills and pave the way to encourage the next wave of entrepreneurs. It is a call-to-action as part of the President’s new economic opportunity agenda for millennials to establish new strategies that support this generation.

The Millennial Entrepreneurs Road Show will include SBA Millennial Trep Day events in several cities throughout the country. The first SBA Millennial Trep Day will take place at Atlanta University Center (AUC) on Feb. 27, from 11 am to 3 pm. Each event will feature a day of intensive entrepreneurship immersion, interactive breakout sessions, speakers, resource panels and networking opportunities with business mentors. All events are free and open to the public.

Five cities have been confirmed for SBA Millennial Trep Day:
