Nakayoshi Young Professionals
"Japanese American Citizens League NCWNP District Young Professionals"
Nakayoshi ("close friends") is an active group for young professionals and
recent college grads in the San Francisco Bay Area who are looking for opportunities to
network and contribute to the Japanese American and Asian American and Pacific Islander
communities.
Affiliated with the Northern California-Western Nevada-Pacific District of the Japanese
American Citizens League (JACL NCWNP),
the organization publishes its own website at
www.nakayoshi-jacl.blogspot.com,
maintains a
Nakayoshi Young Professionals subscription list, and programs networking and social
events for young professionals in the Bay Area.
The organization also reaches out to young Asian American professionals via its active,
open Facebook group, which provides a forum for blending and channeling the professional,
social and civic impulses of its members (over 180 at the time of this writing).
According to the introduction, Nakayoshi on Facebook welcomes:
- Recent college grads who "miss the spirit of activism and sense of camaraderie they
enjoyed back on campus in their student orgs" to interact with like-minded AAPIs.
- Burnt-out 9-to-5ers who want to balance their daily grind with something that feels
meaningful and uplifting
- Veteran club-goers and bar-hoppers who wonder how they can add some variety to their
weekends
- And most of all, anyone seeking the chance to be more involved in the
Japanese American and larger APA community.
