Access Latina Now Accepting Applications Until Dec. 11

NEW YORK, Dec. 2, 2015 — Renowned global entrepreneurship leader John Mullins is hosting a business webinar for the nonprofit accelerator Access Latina.

The webinar is based on Mullins’ most recent book, “The Customer-Funded Business: Start, Finance, or Grow Your Company with Your Customers’ Cash,” in which he shows entrepreneurs how to get customers, instead of investors, to fund their businesses.

Entrepreneurs who register at www.accesslatina.org by Dec. 6 will receive an email with a link to the webinar, which will be available for a limited time only for Access Latina participants.

Access Latina also announced that it will accept applications to the business competition that will award more than $100,000 in capital and resources through Dec. 11.

To be eligible, the applicants must own at least 20% share of businesses in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math), social innovation and agriculture industries (including ag-farm and ag-tech) that are headquartered in New York, Washington, D.C., Florida and Puerto Rico. The accelerator also informed that it will review applications of businesses with annual revenue of at least $50,000.

Each winner will receive a $25,000 grant and a crowdfunding round, advanced education, publicity, mentoring and access to a high-profile network of professionals including entrepreneurs and investors.

Access Latina is the first multimarket accelerator program designed to help Latina business owners in various sectors reach their entrepreneurial and economic potential through capital and resource investment.

“Investing in women’s economic development is a significant economic driver for any country,” said Access Latina co-founder Lucienne Gigante.

“Latina-owned businesses have increased nearly 200% over the past decade and we want to help them grow through access to mentorship, networks and opportunities,” added co-founder Marta Michelle Colon.

John Mullins gives lectures throughout the world on entrepreneurship and venture capital. The associate professor of management practice in entrepreneurship and marketing at the London Business School has published five books, numerous cases and more than 40 articles in news outlets such as the Harvard Business Review, the MIT Sloan Management Review and The Wall Street Journal. His research has won national and international awards from the Marketing Science Institute, the American Marketing Association and the Richard D. Irwin Foundation.
