Moving Our Announcements…Again
March 2008: After a period of temporarily housing the What’s New notes from this section on our Career Center blog at http://diversitycareers.blogspot.com as announced here in December, we have completed the configuration of the What’s New postings on what should be its long-term home at the address http://imdiversity.blogspot.com. The former blog will continue to be updated with appropriate content related to career development, workplace issues, diversity- and employment-related topics, and announcements of opportunities and events of interest to a wide range of visitors coming from the Career Center of our main site IMDiversity.com, and from elsewhere.
However, those announcements that are primarily related to internal news and announcements of goings-on with the IMDiversity.com and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online network, as well as THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine, will be posted on http://imdiversity.blogspot.com. These items will be primarily of interest to regular active-job-seeker visitors and clients of our organization, those making use of our jobs and resume tools, etc. on our main site, as well as those interested in corporate news and information about IMDiversity, Inc.
In fact, this is how we had planned to approach the integration of the blogs into our site activities from the beginning, believing that it was in the interests of our readers who were seeing different kinds of content. However, it took us a little while to (re)secure and configure the http://imdiversity.blogspot.com address. We hope this change will be beneficial to our readers and site visitors moving forward.

December 2007: For 2008, the editors of IMDiversity.com and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN will begin posting the items that used to be posted in this space on our new blogs. Moving to this new vehicle/format will not only allow us to post more and more varied types of What’s New announcements more effectively, but will also allow interested users to subscribe (via RSS or Atom feeds) to receive notices of What’s New postings generally, or categorized according to their unique interests.

Internships Special
November 22, 2007: Beginning on the long holiday weekend and the rest of November, IMDiversity will be running a special for student and entry-level jobseekers visiting our site. Posted on our Internships and Coops page will be a number of Featured Internships, some of which are, yes, already coming up on application deadlines for the summer. For the industrious students looking to line up their ducks with plenty of lead-time, stop by and check them out. For the procrastinators among us, it looks like there are still some great employers accepting applications for spring as well, but they’re going fast. If you don’t see any you like right off the bat, try one of our pre-programmed internship quicksearches on that page to find more opportunities.
Introducing IMDiversity Featured Jobs
November 13, 2007: We are pleased to formally introduce our new IMDiversity Featured Jobs section, now available to help bring together the most active, direct employers and active jobseekers on our site. Offered by IMDiversity in beta form and refined since this spring, Featured Jobs was developed at the suggestion of the site’s jobseeker-users and employers alike.
A prominently placed special jobs section linked throughout the extended IMDiversity.com network, Featured Jobs allows returning jobseekers quick, easy access to a shortlist of jobs posted by direct employers where the hiring managers have indicated their active interest in locating diverse candidates for the position. Because Featured Jobs are posted on IMDiversity by direct job posters, and not through automation, a position’s appearance in this section lets you know that an employer has taken an extra, active step toward filling the position with qualified, diverse candidates.
For employers, including smaller and non-commercial organizations, it provides a chance to let your high-priority or time-sensitive job postings stand out from the pack. While still accessible in our regular database searches, your upgraded job posting allows you to spotlight a single opportunity in your organization that might otherwise get less notice in regular searches because of the high volume of jobs in search results.
Featured Jobs is accessible on nearly every page including our Villages, Career Center, blogs and even select partner sites. We encourage all users to visit the section, and as always to send us your feedback or ideas.
Upcoming: A Day of Presence
August 21, 2007: The staff of IMDiversity, Inc. wishes to call our visitors’ attention to an important series of events here in our hometown — on August 29 — commemorating the anniversary of the hurricanes that struck our region two years ago. A variety of events — from large gatherings and vigils to scholarly panel discussions to policy roundtables — will be held in our city surrounding the anniversary. We join our neighbors, and business and media colleagues in inviting concerned citizens to consider visiting us, whether in person or virtually, to participate in A DAY OF PRESENCE.
We will be posting additional information about events and actions on our sites, as well as on our network of blogs. Meanwhile, we encourage interested readers to view this release by Susan L. New Column on Transitioning from College to the “Real World” on THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online
June 25, 2007: THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online is pleased to introduce a new column, “Now What?” by special columnist Chaz Kyser, of special interest this time of year for all those newly minted college grads who are experiencing “culture shock”.
Geared to helping recent graduates making the transition from school to the world of work, the column is dedicated to the idea that “the real world—the working world—is not to be feared, put off or ignored; it should be embraced.”
By the author of the book, Embracing the Real World: The Black Woman’s Guide to Life After College, the column has origins in Kyser’s determination to share practical guidance especially — but not exclusively — to young African-American women. However, the expanded online column contains valuable tips and reminders for those of all ages, genders and backgrounds who are already working, and are concerned with such nuts-and-bolts topics such as the pros and cons of a second job, meeting and exceeding a new employer’s expectations, fitting in at a new workplace, and evaluating whether or not to go back to school.
Resume FlashPost Undergoing Maintenance
May 31, 2007: Starting today, our Resume FlashPost has been temporarily disabled. This tools section has been closed temporarily while our server is undergoing maintenance changes. We expect to reopen the section shortly, and apologize for any inconvenience this outage may have caused to any of our users.
QuickSearch Added: $100K+ Jobs
April 26, 2007: The staff of IMDiversity.com has continued the season’s updating on the Career Center section of our site, adding this week a number of new location quicksearch sections, as well as a new QuickSearch of jobs offering salaries in the six figures, or hourly equivalents. IMDiversity’s QuickSearches provide pre-programmed searches of opportunities contained in our jobs database, making with the goal of providing convenient, one-click access to job search results without having to manually input multiple search criteria on each visit. QuickSearch results also allow visitors who open a free MY JOB TOOLS Account to save and customize one-click job searches and schedule automated job agents that will automatically send personalized email job alerts when new opportunities fitting the search criteria are posted.
Extended: Seasonal Internships and Entry-Level Opportunities Feature
April 25, 2007: The editors announce that they have created an additional update to the IMDiversity.com seasonal feature Summer Gigs 2007 – Internships and Entry-Level, an annual special that highlights readings and opportunities for college students and new graduates. Although the hiring season for summer jobs and internships is winding to a close, the editors decided to update the popular feature, and to spotlight a handful of internship, coop and job postings in our database that have been identified by employers as still open for the season. Additional internships and opportunities that do not have imminent deadlines for summer start dates will also be posted and searchable from the special, starting this week.
Feb. Top 100 Employers/African American History Edition of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN
April 20, 2007: IMDiversity, Inc. is pleased to announce the publication of a special, extra graduation edition of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine . Available on college campuses nationwide, primarily through career services offices, as well as through direct personal subscriptions, the issue contains a special readings section focused on the transition from campus life to the working world, a section on Careers in Media & Mass Communications that is extended on THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online, a Q&A with Roderick West, President n& CEO of Entergy New Orleans, and a contribution by The Apprentice winner Randall Pinkett, discussing “secrets to becoming a successful campus CEO“.
The staff will begin to upload the edition, including a number of special extended versions of articles, to http://www.black-collegian.com.
Staff Message of Support to the Families and Friends of Virginia Tech Victims
April 17, 2007: The staff of IMDiversity, Inc. and the editors of IMDiversity.com and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN wish to extend our deepest heartfelt sympathies to those whose loved ones’ lives were lost and upended by the tragic shootings on the campus of Virginia Tech. At this time, there’s no single criterion for a job’s inclusion on the list at this time; some positions are editors’ choice; others are interesting positions whose posting is about to expire; others have been flagged as good jobs where the employer is especially actively interested in filling; still others are positions worthy of a shout because they are high-level, or are geared to providing a service for the particular good our multicultural communities. We encourage you to visit Featured Jobs whenever you stop by the site to see what’s new.
Annual Summer Gigs Feature
March 2007: IMDiversity has updated its special seasonal section dedicated to providing job outlook information and featured opportunities for recent graduates and other entry-level jobseekers, as well as internships and other summer opportunities. The one-month feature is the perfect thing for student procrastinators who have not yet nailed down an internship or for those about to graduate still looking for their first job. Al “The Inspiration” Duncan joins THE BLACK COLLEGIAN blog team
March 2007: THE BLACK COLLEGIAN staff has been working to expand its blogs section this winter, and is pleased to welcome our new new columnist and blog team member Al “The Inspiration” Duncan. Mr. Duncan is a widely traveled public speaker, TV personality, workshop leader, and author of numerous motivational publications. His State of Mind multimedia program, described at www.alduncan.net, incorporates E-Books, E-Zines, and audio content to provide motivational and self-empowerment aid to diverse audiences everywhere.
Working with TBC’s blog team, Duncan will blog to Elevate U, with a focus on providing information and engaging in discussions helpful to college students and recent grads pursuing their self-development and career-development goals. We are pleased to welcome him, and invite you to also see his recent feature, Six Ways to Turn Setbacks into Comebacks, from last fall’s edition of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine.
IMDiversity Healthcare Channel updates underway
February 2007: The editors of the IMDiversity.com network have begun work on updating and expanding the Healthcare Industry Careers Channel @ IMDiversity.
Initially launched as a time-limited feature — a blend of an online virtual career fair with detailed background articles presenting information about diversity and the employment outlook in this booming field, the Healthcare Channel has proved a consistently popular destination with our readers. Many readers, in fact, have written to request additional features focused on finding and preparing for opportunities in healthcare-related fields.
As a result, we have published a number of new articles , as well as updated and expanded upon the statistical information, resource listings, salary information, and employment outlook projections for the field. We will continue to update the channel throughout the season, and incorporate new readings series focused on both opportunities and disparities in healthcare for our diverse communities.
The Healthcare Channel, along with the IMDiversity Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Channel, offer not only articles about the industries, but also a number of job quicksearch tools and employer profiles to allow faster, more relevant searching of targeted opportunities in this very broad employment category. QuickSearch tools in both channels also allow users who hold a free MY JOB TOOLS Account with IMDiversity to customize, refine and save healthcare-related job searches in our database so they can automatically receive email notices of new postings in the future.
Feb. Top 100 Employers/African American History Edition of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN
February 2007: IMDiversity, Inc. is pleased to announce the publication of the Second Semester 2007 Super Issue of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine.
The February Top 100 Employers/African-American History edition features our annual listing of the top 100 employers for the class of 2007, as well as a feature interview with actor Will Smith; Charlayne Hunter-Gault’s tribute to the late Ed Bradley; and much more.
Additional career-focused features include a series of practical advice articles for students and recent graduates on successfully navigating the various stages of the job interviewing process, from interviewing at on-campus career fairs to presenting yourself well at on-site interviews. In a related feature, “How to Make the Most of Your Campus Career Center,” we surveyed directors from career offices at universities nationwide to get their tips for how to maximize these often-utilized resources.
The staff will begin to upload the edition, including a number of special extended article expanded from the magazine versions, to http://www.black-collegian.com. The magazine is distributed free on several hundred college campuses in the U.S., primarily through career services offices, and is also available through direct personal subscriptions.

“Representing a multitude of professional business owners, social organizations and churches, Long Beach is recognized for its rich diversity,” says the organization. With some two-thirds of its population consisting of Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and other diverse ethnic groups, the community offers a host of business opportunities, and community and cultural events.
The website for Chocolate City NLBC is dedicated to providing information and listings for the area, as well as networking opportunities for its residents and those considering a visit or move there. January 2007: IMDiversity wishes our visitors and members a happy new year!
We have been working on upgrading portions of our site network over the holidays. In addition to the continuing development of new blog channels, we have also added a handful of new Jobs QuickSearch pages at the Career Center, including new location searches for Virginia jobs and Maryland jobs, and a new search form for viewing featured employment opportunities in Canada.

December 2006: IMDiversity is pleased to welcome back resume expert and advice columnist Abby M. Locke. As president of Premier Writing Solutions, Ms. Locke has provided highly regarded executive resume-writing and personal branding services to professionals of all walks, and contributed articles and sample resumes to a number of books and periodical publications focused on career development.
Active in the National Résumé Writers’ Association, she currently serves as a Resume Advisor at Women-for-Hire career fairs, and is a regular contributor for IMDiversity.com, THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online and ExecutivePie.com. She is also the Resume Expert for Rachel’s Network, an environmentalist women’s association in Washington, DC.
Starting this month, her practical columns will be published in a new section at the IMDiversity Career Center: Featured Column: Resumes & Careers with Abby Locke.

New Immigration Q&A Column with Attorney and Activist Patricia Ice
November 2006: IMDiversity is pleased to announce the launch of “Ice on Immigration,” a new advice column on IMDiversity.com providing information and tips on topics related to U.S. immigration and immigrant workers’ rights.
L. Patricia Ice is an attorney and counselor who has taught immigration law at Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, and also contributes regular immigration advice stories to La Noticia and The Jackson Advocate.
A practicing attorney, Ms. Ice has recently taken on a two-year role as an Equal Justice Works Katrina Legal Fellow, focusing on immigrant employment issues as fair labor standards, and wage and hour problems, in areas around the Gulf Coast.
She is also dedicated to immigrant rights advocacy, and serves on the Board of the non-profit rights education group, MIRA: The Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance at www.yourmira.org.
Although the reader-suggested topics for the column are specific to no particular group of readers, the column will be housed on IMDiversity’s Hispanic American Village site, as a featured stand-alone section in the Immigration readings department.

Development of Village Blog Channels Underway
November 2006: The staff of IMDiversity is at work on a series of new blogs that will serve as companion channels to our Multicultural Villages sites and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online.
The blogs will be used to post different items about and from IMDiversity, our affiliates, and other sources of information we deem of to be of relevance and interest to our diverse audiences.
Contributions will be added by diverse editorial teams, and we invite visitors to both post comments and subscribe to syndicated feeds (RSS 2.0 and Atom 0.3) on these channels in order to conveniently “keep in touch” with IMDiversity.

IMDiversity Job Bank – User Experience Survey Underway
November 2006: The staff of IMDiversity invites feedback from anyone holding one of free-subscription MY JOB TOOLS Accounts at http://jobs.imdiversity.com or http://jobs.black-collegian.com. This year, we have created a new, short-answer online form to make it easy for users to share their comments and suggestions about our site tools, and briefly tell us about the successes and obstacles in their job search experiences both on and outside our site.
IMDiversity regularly reviews and employs such confidential feedback to plan upgrades, additions, and fixes to our sites to better serve all our users. Added: Sneak Preview: THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine
October 2006: The new edition of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine (First Semester 2006) is being shipped to college campuses nationwide. Meanwhile, the staff has begin to upload a number of features to the companion website at http://www.black-collegian.com.
Among the highlights of the new edition is the annual 100 Top Diversity Employers ranking and special content section, presented by TBC and Universum Communications; the third in our series of collaborations with Black College Wire, featuring student journalists covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; and an interview with U.S. Senator Barack Obama about Black student political clout and other minority youth voting patterns, which is available for free reprint with illustrations by fellow ethnic media.
Additional foci include global skills-building through work and study abroad, careers in computer science, and advice for recent university graduates for preparing for on-campus interviews and job negotiations beyond.

September 2006: As part of our ongoing, phased renovation to our site THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online at http://www.black-collegian.com, IMDiversity has added a new content channel focused on topics related to international work, study abroad, and foreign travel opportunities for African-American college students and other students of color.
The International channel at THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online replaces and expands upon the former “Study Abroad” content section, providing advice articles and resource tips related to employment opportunities for recent graduates, as well as feature articles of an international focus that are of concern to our readers.
The channel will also be a home for features related to global skills-building, bilingual opportunities, immigration-related concerns, and travel topics from an African-American and student perspective.

July 2006: Beginning on July 21, the staff of IMDiversity Inc. will begin implementing a series of a changes to our site THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online at http://www.black-collegian.com, as well as our job bank at http://jobs.black-collegian.com.
Significant changes in the look, feel and navigation of the site will be implemented, followed by the repositioning of select feature departments and the addition of new features.
During this period, users may experience occasional periods in which the site will become slower or temporarily inaccessible; or, select features may become inaccessible as they are being updated.

Updates to Resume FLASHPost [beta]
July 2006: The staff of IMDiversity and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN have recently updated our Resume FLASHPost, with the appreciated help of our users who shared their observations with us after using the beta version of this new quick resume posting tool. Improvements made include:
- Reprogrammed field that had prohibited some users from indicating an open end date for their current position or their ongoing study toward a degree
- Included an alert to let users know when they have exceeded the maximum number of characters allowed in select fields including resume search display summary
- Reintegrated Associates Degree and Diploma as selections in the degrees obtained field

Annual Updates to IMDiversity.com and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online scheduled; Jobs and Employer Tools to be upgraded, expanded throughout the season
May 2006: Beginning on May 2, the staff of IMDiversity Inc. will begin implementing a series of a upgrades to our sites, IMDiversity.com and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online, and to their respective job and employer tools databases at http://jobs.imdiversity.com and http://jobs.black-collegian.com.
Throughout the spring and early summer, we will make enhancements to extend the functionality and streamline procedures for using both our employer and job-seeker tools, as well as expanding online Help features. We will also be making incremental changes to the presentation and navigation of content pages on our main sites.
During this process, we will continue to post notices here to update users on developments.
On rare occasions, the upgrade process may cause some users to experience a temporary slow-down of some functions or receive unexpected database script messages. In most cases, it will suffice to simply wait 5 minutes, then refresh your browser; or, you may need to return to and reload the page you were previously working on and try again after a few minutes. In very rare cases, certain users may have to logout of their Tools Accounts or close their browser and log back in.

IMDiversity Announces Special 35th Anniversary Edition of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine
Vibrant Commemorative Issue Hits Campuses this Month with “Commencement” Theme
April 2006: THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Magazine will publish a special spring edition celebrating its 35th publishing anniversary. Among other features, the issue includes a detailed Retrospective section, including a timeline history of the publication from its humble beginnings in 1970 up through the the present, as well as a special historical folio, “35 Great African American Superheroes,” with richly illustrated profiles presented with Publications International, Ltd. Contrasted with these features, additional articles focus on the experiences and preferences, problems and passions of contemporary African-American college students around the country. Also of interest is an eloquent commentary on Katrina and the multicultural history of New Orleans by the famed daughter of that city and world-renowned novelist, Anne Rice.
A number of the magazine’s articles have tie-ins to extended online-only features that will be posted at the BlackCollegian.com website throughout the summer.
THE BLACK COLLEGIAN is usually published twice a year, scheduled for the Fall and Winter semesters on most of the 850-plus colleges campuses where it it is freely distributed through career and student services offices. The last two regular-year editions were slightly delayed and significantly re-edited due to the company’s evacuation from its New Orleans headquarters following Hurricane Katrina. However, planning for the special third edition had begun prior to the flooding, so the publisher decided to push ahead in order to meet the spring deadline to have it distributed for commencement. Students are invited to visit their campus career office to pick up a free copy. Career office administrators may also contact IMDiversity to request free copies in bulk.
IMDiversity Welcomes the Newest EON Member: International Digital Media and Arts Association
April 2006: We are pleased to announce that the International Digital Media and Arts Association (iDMAa) has become the newest member of the Employment Opportunity Network (EON), IMDiversity’s community networking project to provide free online access to employment opportunities and job search tools. Founded in 1994, iDMAa is a forum for professionals working across a wide range of disciplines and initiatives related to the emerging field of Digital Media and Arts. Traditional disciplines including the Arts, Computer Science, Engineering, Journalism and Communications, Media Studies, Film and Television, and many others employing new technologies and new applications are represented in the national organization, which serves students in these fields as well as working professionals. It is holding its annual conference April 6-8 at the Miami University of Ohio, in association with the Miami University Center for Interactive Media Studies.
IMDiversity/THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Join Forces with Black College Wire to Feature Displaced HBCU Students
March 2006: The Second Semester Super Issue of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN, with a special focus on rebuilding after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, is now available. The magazine can be picked up for free at college careers offices nationwide, or through direct personal subscriptions. The second issue to be released following the publisher’s evacuation from New Orleans, the Second Semester edition again includes a special section co-presented by Black College Wire that features reporting by student journalists from America’s HBCUs. Also included in the “After Katrina” section are follow-up reports on the efforts at New Orleans’ HBCUs to resume classes in the second term.
In addition to this special focus, the edition includes a host of careers-oriented articles, including the list of Top Employers for the Class of 2006. An overview of careers in meteorology is accompanied by an interview with America’s favorite weatherman, Al Roker. Another series focuses on internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, and other “reality learning” or experiential educational approaches, as well as a personal interview with Dr. Randall Pinkett, winner of TV’s The Apprentice. Historical and cultural features include tributes to the late Rosa Park and Coretta Scott King, and a visually rich profile of artist John Scott, recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” Grant.
Added: New Career Center QuickSearch Pages
February 2006: We’ve continued to add new pages to the Job Resources and Search Tools in our Career Center at IMDiversity.com. These help job-seekers conveniently pre-search and -sort featured opportunities in a variety of job categories, or by location or other interests. Most recently, we’ve added new Location Searches: Jobs in Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, Illinois, Louisiana.
IMDiversity Introduces New Resume FlashPost and Smart Employer Matching System [Beta]
November 2005: We are pleased to announce the launch the beta version of the new FLASHPost for job-seekers, a time-saving shortcut for posting resume information in a format optimized by hiring employers. IMDiversity and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online have expanded the ability of hiring employers to search for promising candidate resumes matched to their current job openings through adding a second specialized resume database. Using FLASHPost allows job-seekers to quickly post their resumes to the new database, while simultaneously preparing a copy for our standard database. The FLASHPost form provides the added convenience of allowing job-seekers to instantly upload or copy and paste information from existing plain text, RTF or Word doc resume in many standard resume formats, then fine-tune and and save it in a format optimized for smart-searching by actively hiring employers.

IMDiversity/THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Join Forces with Black College Wire to Feature Displaced HBCU Students
November 2005: The First Semester Super Issue of THE BLACK COLLEGIAN, the careers magazine for students of color celebrating its 35th publishing anniversary this year, is now available.
Its release was delayed during the company’s evacuation from New Orleans and held back to prepare an expanded section, “Hurricane Katrina: Views from America’s HBCUs“. The supplement is a special collaborative project with Black College Wire, a non-profit journalism education organization providing training and mentoring to student journalists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. From on-the-ground feature articles to vivid photo essays, the section movingly details the experiences of displaced Black student journalists before and after the disasters. The section ties-into extended online coverage, photos, relief and jobs features hosted by IMDiversity.com; some of the features are also available for free reprint with credit through Black College Wire.

Expanded, Reorganized Job Tools and Job Hunting Resources Section
October 2005: The Career Center portion of the IMDiversity.com network has been redesigned to include both easier access to career development and workplace issues readings, as well as a significantly expanded section dedicated to practical, time-saving online jobs database search tools. New navigation (pictured at right) access to a variety of specialized job search pages called QuickSearches featuring pre-programmed searches. These make it easy for job-seekers to to search, sort and display featured opportunities by targeted interest — for example, by industry, career stage level, cultural interest, geographical location, and more. Each QuickSearch also includes access to targeted salary and benefits research information, graduate education and student employment opportunities, and additional online jobs resources not housed on IMDiversity.
The section also now provides all users with access to previously restricted, special job search pages IMDiversity has provided to diverse multicultural organizations that are members of our Employment Opportunity Network (EON), an alliance to extend information about employment opportunities to other community websites.
Posted Employment Opportunities Available to Katrina-Displaced Persons
September 8, 2005: IMDiversity and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN have jointly launched the first of a series of planned features to promote immediate employment relief action to aid those who have become unemployed as a result of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. It has solicited and posted direct online job opportunity links in a non-advertising listing feature, “The Wall of Angels” at www.imdiversity.com/angels.asp. The job links were solicited through an email campaign to the company’s current and recent former Member Employer clients and employers who have previously posted jobs on the company’s two jobs databases, as well as completely unaffiliated, human resources-related organizations and contacts. IMDiversity has made the listing free of charge to any employer who responds with a link to job opportunities that are available to Katrina evacuees. In most cases, these links go to directly to an organization’s general opportunities listings on its own web site for easiest access by job-seekers with limited online access, or for faster access by field workers who are providing on-the-ground assistance to unemployed evacuees. In some cases, certain employers or positions have specifically earmarked assistance for Katrina evacuees such as relocation or temporary housing assistance; some others are providing temporary work, or seeking workers to help fill urgent needs directly in hurricane-impacted areas. Where provided by the employer, IMDiversity has also added direct links to information about any additional non-employment forms of assistance or sections where the employer itself has emergency needs for its own locations and staff members in affected areas.
The Wall is being updated on a rolling basis.
Additional measures are planned to provide easier ability for displaced job-seekers to locate and apply directly for positions using the free online Job Tools Accounts at http://jobs.imdiversity.com and http://jobs.blackcollegian.com.
Emergency Contact Info Added; IMDiversity, THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Still in Operation
September 1, 2005: As a result of Hurricane Katrina and the following hazards in New Orleans, our staff was forced to evacuate from our home office in the city and establish temporary operations for a number of functions. Although our site servers, magazine production and many other functions remained in full operation in protected areas outside the state of Louisiana, external communications to and from evacuated staff have been re-established only slowly. We therefore have been updating our Contact Us page on a regular basis to provide our users and staff with temporary alternate contacts or methods of communications. We will continue to do so as needed.
Simultaneously, we have temporarily altered some editorial operations; for the time being, much of our important emergency news and feature content that would normally be posted on THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online will be shared by and cross-linked on IMDiversity.com when appropriate. We nonetheless encourage interested readers to enjoy the wealth of substantive feature articles there, including the more recent summer updates to our Summer 2005 Graduation Super Issue.

Expanded: Résumé Search Feature for Member Employers
June 2005: We’ve redesigned the Search Résumé tool to make it easier for Employer Members of IMDiversity.com and THE BLACK COLLEGIAN Online to pinpoint candidates who have posted their résumés to our databases in fewer steps. We have also added an “Advanced Résumé Search,” allowing recruiting managers to expand their search criteria to zero in on candidates who have specified skills and attributes such as bilingual fluency, security clearance, and more. Also includes a new online Help feature. To try the expanded tools, click “For Employers,” select “my résumé search” and log in normally. [Note: Résumé searching only available to Members.]
New Help and User Flow for First-Time Member Employers Added
June 2005: We’ve added a NEW MEMBERS Getting Started section for Employer Members of IMDiversity.com at http://jobs.imdiversity.com/employerx/LoginEx.asp to provide step-by-step guidance for new Members logging in for the first time.
IMDiversity Inc. Spring Cleaning 2005 Campaign: Upgrades to My Employer Tools and My Job Tools Scheduled
May 2005: Beginning on May 6, the staff of IMDiversity Inc. will begin implementing the first of a upgrades to the jobs database tools at http://jobs.imdiversity.com and http://jobs.black-collegian.com. Throughout the late spring and early summer, we will be making a host of enhancements to extend the functionality and streamline the procedures for users of our Tools accounts for both employers and job-seekers, as well as adding new tool features and a comprehensive online Help section.
On rare occasions, the upgrade process may cause some users to experience a temporary slow-down of some functions or receive unexpected database script messages. In most cases, it will suffice to simply wait 5 minutes, then refresh your browser; or, you may need to return to and reload the page you were previously working on and try again after a few minutes. In very rare cases, certain users may have to logout of their Tools Accounts or close their browser and log back in.
