Assistant Vice President for Administration and Finance
The Assistant Vice President for Administration and Finance works under the general supervision of the Vice President of Administration & Finance and provides leadership to the Business and Financial Services unit. In addition this position assists the Vice President for Administration & Finance with special projects and serves as a backup, assuming responsibility for the division in their absence.
Primary duties include but are not limited to: administering the University’s financial operations, safeguarding assets, and ensuring that University assets are properly utilized; overseeing all business and financial services functions including: Accounting, Accounts Payable, Bursar, Budget, One Card Office, Mailroom, Copy Center, and Purchasing; serves as a University Contracting Officer and as an advisor to the Executive Director of the University’s student services corporation; and strategically and collaboratively enhancing the university’s financial strength through fiscal analysis, monitoring, planning and reporting.
The candidate must possess demonstrated experience in the management of complex administrative and financial operations; the ability to articulate organizational mission, vision, and values and be able to foster a positive working environment. The ideal candidate will think strategically with a University-wide perspective; be able to work collaboratively within and outside the division; have high personal and professional integrity; and demonstrate a passion for excellence and for the provision of exceptional customer service.
The position requires five to ten years of progressive management experience; an advanced degree in a business related field, or CPA certification; demonstrated supervisory experience; strong computer proficiency; and experience in working with diverse populations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required. Experience in higher education a plus.
