TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) _ More than 100,000 people are expected to attend the Cherokee National Holiday later this month when the tribe will mark the 175th anniversary of the signing of the tribe’s constitution.
The holiday takes place Aug. 29-31 in Tahlequah.
Celebration events include a parade, a powwow and traditional games like stickball. Native American vendors will also be on hand.
This year’s event will commemorate the signing of the tribe’s constitution on Sept. 6, 1839. This created the tribe’s existing government.
