The Post Academy Awards Gala at The Metropolitan will follow the 87th Academy Awards on February 22, 2014.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 20, 2015 — Prominent actors, producers, writer/directors and top executives will celebrate and highlight the year’s cinematic accomplishments and achievements amid the backdrop of one of Hollywood’s most glamorous nights.

ABFI enhances the opportunity for African Americans in front and behind the scenes of entertainment. Honoring the contributions of Sidney Poitier, Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, Lupita Nyong’o and others, embodies the purpose of the night.

The Oscars will be celebrated in the heart of Hollywood. This Post Academy Awards Gala within The Metropolitan will be a launch of celebration of Hollywood’s well to do, up and coming actors and actresses alongside The American Black Film Institute while honoring contributions of Black American Cinema.

ABFI’s theme for the evening, “Vivre en Noir,” reflects its mission to preserve the cinematic legacy of African American films and films of the global black experience, while nurturing its current crop of talented writers, directors and artists who give voice to the continued enhancement of the black experience on film.

Confirmed attendees and participants include: Sidney Poitier, Common, Tamera Mowry-Housley, John Legend, Blair Underwood, Salli Richardson, Don Cheadle, Keith David, Jussie Smolett, Brandon T. Jackson and more.

DJ Carisma of Power 106 (KPWR) and DJ Bad will set the tune of the night by spinning current and soul music that will keep attendees on their feet the whole night.

Grammy Award winning Singer/Songwriter Carlos Battey of The Jackie Boyz, and up and coming rapper, Brandon Marquiste, will perform at The Metropolitan on February 22, 2014.

Brands on the rise, Savile Rumtini and Gabrielle Union’s Vanilla Puddin have joined forces to support The American Black Film Institute by providing the pour for the night for VIP guests.
