INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The U.S. Department of Labor is giving the state of Indiana $1.5 million as part of an effort to improve unemployment insurance programs around the nation.
U.S. Labor Secretary Tom Perez announced Monday that the money would help toward improving technology used to ensure the proper residents receive unemployment insurance. The money is part of $87 million the Labor Department is spending throughout the nation.
In order to receive the grants, states had to promise to automate and expand certain unemployment applications.
