Delivers critical healthcare information for RFK Clinic in Louisiana, Project HOPE in Pacific
Marlborough, MA – (July 30, 2013) – Health eVillages today announced the expansion of two partnerships that will help deliver critical mobile healthcare technology to underserved populations in the U.S. and throughout the Pacific Ocean
Health eVillages, a program founded by Physicians Interactive in partnership with the not-for-profit Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights (RFK Center), provides iPod®, iPad® and other handheld devices equipped with specialized references and clinical decision support tools to improve primary and preventive healthcare in underserved areas around the world. Health eVillages is expanding its partnerships with the RFK Center in Louisiana and Project HOPE in support of its Pacific Partnership 2013 program.
“Health eVillages is excited to expand our partnerships globally and here in the U.S. with these great organizations,” said Donato Tramuto, CEO and Chairman of Physicians Interactive and Founder and Chairman of Health eVillages. “These organizations are dedicated to providing excellent, comprehensive care to some of the most underserved areas around the globe. Health eVillages is proud to support them with the latest medical information and tools that will help them to enhance the quality of care they provide on their healthcare missions.”
Health eVillages mHealth technology will support the new Robert F. Kennedy Lafitte Medical Clinic, which held its grand opening this week at 5140 Church Street in Jean Lafitte, Louisiana. The keynote speaker at the grand opening was Kerry Kennedy, the President of the RFK Center and a Health eVillages Advisory Board Member. The Robert F. Kennedy Lafitte Medical Clinic will be operated by Jefferson Community Health Care Centers and will serve 3,000 underserved patients with full-time primary care and preventive services.
This is the latest expansion of Health eVillages’ efforts to support community health centers in Louisiana. Earlier this year Health eVillages partnered with Teche Action Board, Inc. at its Franklin, LA clinic site. The Teche Action Board organization serves 18,000 people at 10 clinics in rural Southwestern Louisiana.
In addition, Health eVillages recently deployed mHealth tools and resources to Project HOPE’s Pacific Partnership 2013 on the USS Pearl Harbor, which is under sail in the Pacific Ocean. John Boyer, President and General Manager of MAXIMUS Federal Services and a Health eVillages Advisory Board Member, is on board the U.S. Navy ship as Chief Operations Officer, training the crew on Health eVillages devices and the Skyscape medical app.
Healthcare providers from Project HOPE and the Navy will then use the technology as they visit the Marshall Islands, Kiribati and the Solomon Islands to provide badly needed medical care to populations that may have never before had access to a health exam.
