Assistant Professor, Music Education

The Department of Music at the University of Rhode Island anticipates a full-time, tenure-track position beginning the 2014-2015 academic year. Appointment is effective 7/1/2014. Teach undergraduate and graduate music education courses, and other responsibilities based on appointee background and program needs. Participate in student teacher seminar and supervision of music education students in field experiences. Supervise the coordination of music education curriculum and oversee and assess achievement of the Rhode Island Beginning Teacher Standards, and the music education competencies recommended by National Council on Accreditation for Teacher Education and National Association of Schools of Music. Prepare students for Rhode Island Department of Education certification. Serve as faculty liaison to the School of Education as needed. Work with cooperating school music teachers from all areas and levels of music education, especially in developing and overseeing a statewide University-school partnership in music education.
