CAREER AND FAMILY COUNSELOR

   JOB DESCRIPTION

   The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is seeking qualified applicants as a Career and Family Counselor. This position involves the Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare program, VIEW, Virginia’s welfare reform initiative. Skills and responsibilities include the ability to perform difficult case work with individuals who have multiple barriers to self-sufficiency such as mental illness, substance abuse, homelessness, domestic violence, etc; organize and manage a caseload; create and follow a service plan; advocate and coordinate community resources and services; excellent oral and written communication; interpret and apply federal, state, and local policy. Must have thorough knowledge of social work philosophy, and human service needs and an understanding of employment related requirements.

   JOB REQUIREMENTS

   Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field and 3 years work experience.

   SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

   Valid driver’s license required.

   POST CONDITIONAL OFFER CONTINGENCIES

   Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background, credit and DMV checks.
