Job Description
The University of New Mexico Cancer Center (UNMCC) and the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology invites applicants with a record of directly relevant accomplishments to apply for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at the UNMCC. This person is responsible for the direct oversight of clinical operations and is accountable for the delivery of high quality, cost effective patient care at the UNMHCC. This person will have a direct reporting relationship to the Director of the UNMCC and to the Chief Executive Officer of UNM Hospital (UNMH) and the University Health Science Center’s Chief Medical Officer. The CMO works with the Division Chiefs of the various Departments who have physicians at the UNMHCC to ensure coverage of clinics and Quality of Care. The remaining duties of the CMO comprise of administrative oversight of the clinical enterprise, and responsibility for all domains of quality and safety. Faculty rank and appointment will be commensurate with accomplishments.

The successful applicant oversees the Medical Directors at the UNMCC, Lovelace Hospital In-Patient wards, University Hospital and Memorial Medical Center, Las Cruces; chairs and directs the Clinical Operations Committee; has a direct reporting relationship with the Radiation Oncology Director, Oncology Pharmacy Services Direct, Clinical Operations Direct; works with Patient Access and Information Technology to ensure quality and safety of the global operational functionality; and provides integration of the oncology associated operations between UNMCC and UNMH.
