CIVIL ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Loudoun County, Virginia, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, is currently seeking applications for the position of Civil Engineer to join the capital facility development team under the Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure. As a Civil Engineer, you will serve as an expert for civil and site issues for the department, and responsible for managing complex building and site infrastructure projects during the pre-programming, pre-design, project design, and project construction administration phase.

Duties include, but are not limited to: site development design plan review, including drainage, grading and utility coordination; oversight of civil plan production and revisions through all phases of a project; technical consultation reviews and recommendations on capital project development; field inspections; proposal preparation, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications and preparation of construction documentation as part of a project team; and review of drawings and documents to assure compliance with County designs and production standards. Successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal skills; project management, estimating, and scheduling skills are essential.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and at least four (4) years of professional engineering and/or construction management work experience of a complex nature, direct design experience, and administrative experience. Experience in construction management software, such as e-Builder, is desirable. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

A Professional Civil Engineer license (P.E.) in the Commonwealth of Virginia, NICET certification, and/or Designated Plans Examiner certification is preferred.
