Special Investigation Unit Coordinator – Chicago, IL

Summary: This position is primarily responsible for performing and reporting anti-fraud activities for a life insurance company. Reporting to the Director of Administration, and coordinating with Underwriting and Corporate Counsel, this position is responsible for managing anti-fraud activities, including investigations of potential customers and distributors. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Coordinator will also be required to design and implement procedures and forms as needed for new anti-fraud activities and update existing procedures and forms in need of changes. Key Responsibilities & Duties: • Perform investigations of certain classes of applicants to detect possible fraud • Perform investigations of distributors to detect possible fraud • Design and implement related procedures as needed • Coordinate anti-fraud activities with Underwriting and Legal • Keep procedural and other related documentation current • Correspond with applicants and distributors • Make a recommendation or determination if fraud exists • Perform tasks that are associated with the final disposition of the case • Stay current with developments in state and federal regulatory issues • Travel within the U.S. (10% or less)
Required Skills: • Must have the ability to meet deadlines and perform multiple assignments • Have a working knowledge of life insurance sales and administration • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite • Good understanding of life insurance company operations • Detail orientation and good organizational skills • Persistence to make sure that recommendations and procedures are acted upon
Education & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree preferred • Experience in the life insurance industry required; administration, underwriting or SIU experience a plus
