Departmental Overview
CEGA seeks exceptional candidates for a Program Associate position to assist in the incubation of new initiatives and the execution of center-wide events, operations, and dissemination.

CEGA is the University of California’s leading center for research on global development. The Center’s faculty affiliates—with expertise in economics, public health, engineering, agriculture, and education—use rigorous econometric methods to measure the impacts of social programs and development projects.

This position is a challenging opportunity for candidates who are passionate about global development and impact evaluation; who have a strong desire to expand and deepen their skills in event management, program administration, and organizational development; and who are energized to contribute to the long-term success of a dynamic organization.

Responsibilities
•Center-wide research and dissemination events (e.g. Working Group in African Political Economy, annual CEGA Research Retreat, Evidence to Action symposium, and others), in either a supporting or lead role depending on staffing needs.
•Design and management of event timelines, budgets, agenda and communication strategies, with input from key stakeholders.
•Coordination of event logistics with the event “tone” in mind, including identifying venues, catering, hotels, and transportation.
•Publication and maintenance of event websites, multimedia outreach, and press coverage.
•Supporting strategy development for new programs and initiatives, including the coordination and submission of proposals for funding.
•Assisting in the “incubation” of newly funded programs, including budgeting, work planning, stakeholder engagement, and staff onboarding.
•Coordination of graduate student research fellowships and opportunities, including developing and disseminating RFPs, recruiting reviewers, drafting award letters, and processing supply purchases and stipend payments.
•Tracking and disseminating funding and research opportunities for CEGA faculty affiliates.
•Managing the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures for the entire Center.
•Assisting with personnel management, including recruiting interns and developing a volunteer program.
•Monitoring media coverage of CEGA and its partners and affiliates and implementing the Center’s social media strategy, including Facebook.
•Managing and updating website content.
•Leading the production of the Center’s monthly electronic newsletter and other digital publications.
•Supporting the production of digital and print promotional materials.
Required Qualifications
•BA/BS in Economics, Business, International Relations, Public Health or related field with preference for 1-3 years of relevant professional experience.
•Familiarity with impact evaluation and demonstrated interest and/or coursework in global economic development, impact evaluation, and microeconomics.
•Significant experience with event planning and coordination, with experience as lead coordinator for events with multiple stakeholders.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact productively with researchers and students from different disciplines.
•Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with ability to independently investigate solutions to technical and strategic problems.
•Ability to multitask and be responsive to time-sensitive deadlines.
•Strong organizational and administrative skills with solid attention to detail.
•Ability to execute work independently while communicating effectively with colleagues and managers.
•Desire to work in a start-up environment and invest in the growth and development of the organization; flexibility, a sense of humor, and a positive attitude in approaching challenges and uncertainty.
Preferred Qualifications
•Competency with MS Office, Google applications, and Adobe Creative Suite with a strong desire to improve software skill set.
Salary & Benefits
Annual Salary: $50,000-$70,000; compensation is commensurate with experience
