JOB REQUIREMENTS

Looking for an exciting technical MSSQL server database administration position and a great work atmosphere? Come join the Department of Information Technology’s DBA team supporting Loudoun County’s databases and applications. This is a technical administrator and support position supporting the County’s SQL Cluster environment and stand-alone SQL Server databases. Working with other DBA’s and application developers, this position will be part of a team supporting many databases and applications. Database design, security and operational support experience is required. A working knowledge of T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server 2005 and 2008 are required. Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Visual Studio preferred. The position will be responsible for installing, upgrading and patching Microsoft SQL Servers, database backups (full and differential data backup, restore, and transaction logs), performance monitoring and tuning (index maintenance, profiling), capacity planning , setting and maintaining database security (logins, roles) and supporting developers (query design, data fixes, and troubleshooting). Experience with High Availability solutions (database mirroring, log-shipping and clustering) is required. Knowledge in the following areas is a plus – SQL Server Integration Services – package design, creation, scheduling, and maintenance, using SSIS for ETL (extract, transform and load) between different DBMS platforms (Oracle, DB2, cloud); SQL Server Reporting Services – requirements gathering and design of reports for business and operational support (charts, graphs, business intelligence, self-service reports) and implementing Policy Based Management (creating rules and reports to enforce County standards and best practices).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and four years of experience in database administration and support, application and database development support.
