Position Summary
The Data Warehouse Architect performs administrative activities for all central data warehouses used to provide management with decision support information. Meets with users to provide solutions for data resource needs. Uses database, data warehouse and web based reporting tools to support campus access to centralized data warehouses. This requires the ability to do the following: analysis, writing of specifications, coding, testing, reporting, training and all other aspects of application support.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
• Act as System Administrator for the information repository. This includes:
o Determines user needs for decision support and management information
o Designs, constructs and modifies metadata repositories, data warehouses and data marts to produce analytical decision support information
o Documents data warehouses and metadata repositories
o Design multi-dimensional schemas (star and snowflake) that meet university strategic reporting requirements
o Work with business analysts, research analysts, and project managers to develop and refine reporting and analytics requirements
o Approve reports for migration through workflow to the production environment
• Conducts continual testing to ensure the accuracy and quality of data extracted from transactional databases and stored in data warehouses. Works with Data Governance and technical teams to ensure data quality
• Provides technical support and consultation to report developers. Directs ETL programmers and analysts in addition to developing training materials and seminars. Provides support documentation to the Help Desk
• Works with Database Administrators to manage database strategy and performance
• Investigates tools and technologies related to supporting Business Intelligence systems. Participates in webinars, presentations, and self-study to broaden knowledge base and stay current in the field.
• Perform other duties as needed which apply to the related technical skill set

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
• Knowledge of data warehouse ETL tools
• Knowledge of SQL coding for relational databases
• Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools
• Ability to transform transactional data into executive informations
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Computer Science, Data Mining, Management Information Systems or related field.
Plus the following required experience:
• 3 years of experience in applications development, database design, and SQL programing.
• Experience with Business Intelligence and ETL tools required.
• Strong problem solving, Communication and technical writing skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PeopleSoft administrative systems and EPM software, IBM InfoSphere DataStage and Oracle OBIEE preferred.

Salary
Full-time administrative staff position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefits package available.
