Loudoun County’s Department of Building and Development is seeking qualified applicants for a position as an Environmental Engineer to work with the Environmental Review Team in the Engineering Division. This position is responsible for conducting environmental reviews associated with rezoning, special exception, subdivision, construction plan, and site plan land development applications. The Environmental Engineer ensures that adopted environmental policies and standards are incorporated into land development applications and provides technical expertise on a broad spectrum of environmental issues. This position will represent the County Government in Committees, Forums, and other activities. The job requires strong written, oral communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage projects, make professional presentations, and multitask. Experience in natural resource management with an emphasis on water resources, environmental protection programs, related State and Federal regulations, and conservation design is desired.

This position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Sciences, or related field, and four years related experience to include land development application experience. Master’s Degree is desirable.
