Research Analyst

Job Description
Kenyon College, a co-educational, liberal arts and sciences institution in central Ohio, invites applications for the position of Research Analyst. This is a full-time, 12-month position in the Office of Institutional Research, reporting to the Director of Institutional Research. The Research Analyst will use a broad based knowledge of computing, statistical and research methods, and higher education issues to support campus decision makers with concise, relevant, clear and accurate data. The Research Analyst may be responsible for survey design, administration, analysis, and reporting; developing and conducting research studies in response to institutional needs; preparing quantitative and qualitative analyses and writing reports; responding to external survey and data reporting requests; extracting data from institutional databases for standard and ad hoc reporting, both internal and external; serving on and supporting committees on a variety of topics; and working collaboratively on projects with colleagues within and outside the Institutional Research office. Employment at Kenyon is contingent upon a successful background check. Ideal start date is July 1.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, education, or a related area involving analytic and social science research skills, and at least one year of professional work experience. He/she will have a demonstrated ability to design and implement studies of varying complexity, knowledge and proficiency in social science research methodology, both quantitative and qualitative, and experience in designing and conducting surveys and analyzing survey data. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, manage competing priorities, complete assignments on time and with a high degree of quality and responsiveness, and take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision. He/she will have excellent organizational, analytic, interpersonal, and writing skills, a high level of computer literacy, including at least one statistical software package (SAS, SPSS, Stata, R) and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word). An ideal Research Analyst will also exhibit flexibility, initiative, a sense of humor, an inclination to embrace change, and to learn and take on new tasks.

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s or Ph.D. in a related field, demonstrated familiarity with institutional research in a university setting through a practicum, internship, or other means, experience in higher education, experience with Banner information systems, Cognos, Qualtrics, Tableau, Oracle, and SQL.
