POSITION: RESTRICTED FUNDS ACCOUNTANT
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business related field required.
• Two (2) years experience in grants and contracts accounting preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills required.
• Ability to analyze the ledger accounts and follow an audit trail from the source documents to the financial statements required.
• Ability to present data in spreadsheet form required.
• Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills required.
• Possess basic knowledge of an accounting information system required.
• Possess basic understanding of the accounts receivable-billing cycle required.
• Possess basic understanding of the cash disbursement cycle from the purchase order through the cash payment required.
• Ability to read and interpret financial data required.
• Ability to proof read work for accuracy required.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students, and the public required.
• Demonstrate ability to be a team player required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of office information required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Restricted Funds Accountant shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama State Board of Education and the J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.
• Maintain accounting for restricted grant programs, including monthly reconciliation of expenditures and receipts with the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly grant billings for all federal and state grant programs, except Title IV programs.
• Prepare adjusting journal entries for restricted grant programs.
• Prepare financial reports for restricted grant programs.
• Prepare refund and repayment calculations for student financial aid programs.
• Process all approved adjustments to accounts receivables on financial accounting system.
• Assist the planning office in obtaining facts and financial information for applications for new grant funds.
• Distribute monthly grant status reports to all grant budget managers.
• Assist budget managers to prepare initial grant budgets for all grants.
• Review purchase order requests for compliance with allowable costs of each grant program and availability of funds for the expense.
• Prepare a monthly grant report status report and submit to the Business Manager.
• Responsible for cash management compliance requirements for all grant funds.
• Maintain compliance with college and program related accreditation and certification standards.
• Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts.
• Perform other work related responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and/or President.
SALARY: Appropriate placement on Alabama State Salary Schedule E-3, Grade 3
